2008 Flu Season - Concerns and Alternatives!

There is growing concern this flu season because the flu shot is not working against the flu strains that have appeared.

To give you other options, I’ve decided to republish and expand upon a Special Report that I did several years ago about what you can do to prevent or cure the flu from a natural standpoint.

Please pass this report on to other people so they can also be aware that they have alternative treatments available.

Take a look at one of today's responses to this supplement:

Jerry -
Great issue - is this online?
....> Love your info. Always comes at the right time.   I just got the flu for the first time in 5 years. Always use Xlear (Xylitol and grapefruit seed extract nasal spray) and I use Umcka (I think that's sambucol, too) --

I ran out. Got on a plane to Hawaii, and came back sick as a dog. Xlear, Osscilococcinum (sp?), and Umcka brought me back. So did a healthy dose of straight ginger tea and a lot of ginger/rock salt baths. This particular strain is nasty nasty nasty this year(!)

The Place To Start For Flu Prevention Is With Soap
Soap is the place to start for protection from the flu. Just by washing your hands for 15 seconds will wipe out most of the disease causing organisms on them. Within 5 seconds of soap hitting our skin dormant viruses and bacteria like E. Coli get caught in the soapy water. The soap also tears off the outer coating of flu viruses. It also flushes away yeast and staph germs.

Remember it will take 15 seconds of lathering for all of this to happen. Also, anti-bacterial soap is not the best choice as bugs can develop super resistance to the anti-bacterial drug in the soap. So…just some regular soap, please.

Herbs That Give You An Option
Here are several herbal approaches to take to prevent or cure the flu:

1. Many studies have shown that Echinacea is an excellent flu fighter. Whatever the bottle says to take, double it and take it morning and night.

While you can get Echinacea at the drugstore or health foods store, Dr. Julian Whitaker has discovered a new, highly potent form of Echinacea called Echinamide™. Echinamide™ is available from Healthy Directions at 800 722-8008.

2. Astragalus is a Chinese herb. It stimulates the immune system. You can look at using it as a preventative by using it to boost your immune system. Again, whatever the bottle says to take, double it.

With both Echinacea and Astragalus, you can start taking them before you even get the flu. This activates your immune system so it operates at a higher level of effectiveness, which means you might not even get the flu.

3. There's a natural cough syrup for chest congestion that goes under two names. The brand name is Sambucol or you might find it under the herbal name Elderberry since it is made from elderberries. In a study researchers gave half the patients Sambucol and the rest a placebo. In 3 days, 90% of the patients taking Sambucol were completely cured of the flu. Blood tests showed the flu bug was completely gone. You can purchase Sambucol at your local health food store.

4. There's a traditional African flu remedy that reduces the flu's impact. It's called Jamaican sorrel and is meant to be brewed as a tea. In studies with rats, it's also been shown to stop skin cancer, lower blood pressure, as well as, preventing healthy cells from becoming cancerous.

Tea, anyone? Just make sure it's Jamaican sorrel. You can call Vital Botanicals at 800 609-4326 to order some.

Change Your Lighting
Many of you receiving this email have heard me talk about the effects of fluorescent lighting and how much more beneficial full-spectrum lighting is. I've shared how late afternoon productivity increases, fatigue disappears and headaches stop happening. I want to now share with you a story about full-spectrum lighting and the flu.

A number of years ago, I was speaking in Boston to people who owned Blockbuster type stores, where you could rent movies. When I asked if there were any questions, one man raised his hand. He got up and shared that he had heard me speak at his National Convention the year before and had instituted in his store many of the changes that I had recommended, including changing the lighting. He told everyone that over the course of a very severe flu season not a single employee was sick with the flu. Oh yeah, he also said profits went up. He attributed both impacts to the tubes.

So…to help you out as a Teplitz Report Subscriber, I would like to make you a special offer by giving you a 10% discount if you order a pack of 10 or 12 tubes (what determines if it is 10 or 12 tubes is the size of your tubes – Sandra Lee in my office will be able to tell you which it is). You can also order 6 bulbs and/or compact spirals and receive the 10% discount. You must place your order by February 29. Both the tubes and the bulbs come with a 60 day money-back guarantee. This way you can potentially have extra protection from the flu. To learn more about the full spectrum lighting, click here www.Teplitz.com/lights.htm.

Again, to get this discount, you must call Sandra Lee at 800 77-RELAX (800 777-3529) by February 29.

Vitamin D3 May Help Protect You From The Flu

I’ve written in recent reports about an interesting approach to preventing the flu by taking Vitamin D3. The flu emerges every year in November and ends around March. In the Southern Hemisphere, however, the flu months are from June through September. Is this an interesting coincidence? Is there something more to it?

It appears that something more is happening. Vitamin D has been found to release what are called antimicrobial peptides that are very potent. A study published in Science even found that these peptides from Vitamin D can actually kill the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis.

If you want to use Vitamin D3 as a preventative for the flu, you might want to take 2,000 IU per day. Vitamin D is very safe since we can produce 22,000 IUs of Vitamin D on our skin in 20 minutes on a sunny day. So…give it a whirl and start taking 2,000 IUs of Vitamin D per day.

I hope this information helps you fight the flu. Oh, by the way, I haven’t had the flu in about 40 years (Just lucky, I guess).
